Mark & Becky Mornings

Hey everyone! My name is Mark Mitchell and I’ve been at Cat Country 96 for over a year now doing weekends and fill in work! Before working at Cat Country I was the Morning Show Host and Program Director of KTPI-FM in Lancaster, CA from 1998-2008.

I started working in radio because from the moment I was a little kid I wanted to be that voice on the radio. My first gig was in Phoenix, AZ as a board operator in 1985. From Phoenix I moved to Dayton, OH and then from there I was in Lake Havasu. I moved around a bit after that and ended up in Laughlin, NV as the Morning Host at KFLG-FM.

I moved to the Central Coast in 2008 from Lancaster and I’m loving every minute of it.

I have a beautiful wife and two sons who are 8 and 16. I love to play guitar and play basketball with the boys. On the weekend I’m usually at the beach or cruising around the Central Coast.

I would love to hear from you! Shoot me an email at mark@mycatcountry96.com

I’m very proud to be a part of Cat Country and I can’t wait to meet you!

What would you’re dream vacation consist of?
I would love to travel around Maine and stay in all of the different Bed and Breakfast joints.

Where was your first concert, and who did you go see?
My first concert was the Thompson Twins and Men at Work. It was 1983…so shoot me.

How many years have you been in radio?
January 9th 2009 was 24 years!! I’m tired…

Have you always wanted to be a radio DJ?
Absolutely.

Who is your hero?

Is there any concert you wish you attended, but didn't?
I had a chance to see Stevie Ray Vaughn in 1989 but I passed on the tickets because I had to get up early.

Do you have any unusual habits or talents?
None that I want printed!

I graduated from Cal Poly in '07. Got a job right out of school working as the Promotions Director of the best radio stations EVER! I recently got a house in AG and I'm loving every minute of it! You used to be able to find me singing The Wreckers with my friend Katherine at Doc's in downtown SLO, or doing a solo performance of Folsom Prison Blues... buuuut... now that Doc's is closed (Boo!) I'm pretty much just working, eating, sleeping, watching reality tv with boyfriend and our dogs (Molly and Rainier), or if the season is in full swing... you'll find me at a concert.

E-mail me at becky@mycatcountry96.com

1) Describe the most romantic date you have been on?
The first date that my boyfriend ever took me on. Let me paint a picture for you. He think's he's super cool and as he was backing out of the parking spot of the restaurant...He slammed into another car. And me being me I couldn't make him feel better about the situation....I laughed. Freakin'...Hilarious.

2) What would your "dream" vacation consist of?
The one I take every year with my mama:)

3) Where was your first concert, and who did you go see?
John Michael Montgomery, I was in fifth grade. I had been begging my dad for WEEKS to get tickets and he always told me, "we'll see." Words can't describe how excited I was when I got off the bus and he had tickets!! Best Dad in the whole world!!
